What's Happening in the Tiger Classroom?
Well spring has sprung in the Tiger classroom! That means we are getting very chatty and having a lot of tattle telling. Please remind your child of expected behaviors (raising our hands and not calling out, keeping our hands to ourselves and completing our work in a timely manner). Thank you for your help with this.
Next week is Spirit Week at school and each day has a special event: Monday is Sports Day, wear your favorite sport team or anything to do with sports.
Tuesday: Spirit Day, wear your Willow Grove gear or purple and grey.
Wednesday: Mismatch Day, wear plaid/stripes, wacky dress day!
Thursday: Favorite Color Day!
Friday: Random Act of Kindness Day, bring a picture or note that they have drawn or written for someone they would like to thank.
There are a couple of dates open for Mystery Reader, if you are interested in signing up I am including the link below.

Literacy
We continue to read informational books for our Ready Gen lesson, Swirl by Swirl, Spirals in Nature, focusing on patterns in nature. We wrote an informational story about tigers which they loved researching, writing and illustrating their stories. I hope you enjoyed reading them. We are continuing to work on our foundational skills concentrating on writing simple CVC (consonant vowel consonant) words using short vowels and writing our sight words in sentences and reading them in books.
Math
We have been working on 3D shapes: cone, sphere, cube and cylinder and recognizing them in items around our classroom such as glue stick, marble, dice and ice cream cone. We are also working on learning how to draw these shapes and discuss their attributes, comparing and contrasting. In addition our calendar is working on different ways to make ten using ladybugs. We finally had a lamb day! Hoping next week, we will have some more lamb days coming! We continue to work on counting a variety of ways, working on our addition and subtraction number stories and fluency up to 5.
Science
We finished our lesson on what plants need and I hope you were able to see their videos on Seesaw about the plant they chose and what their plant needs. Now we are working on what animals need. We visited a virtual pet store and learned that all animals need food and water but some need toys, cages, tanks.
