What's Happening in the Tiger Classroom?
I can't believe we had snow and I had just sent home the snow pants! As you can see we have a lot of things coming up in May! Keep these dates on your calendar!
Literacy
We completed our unit on patterns around us and The Tiny Seed and Jack's Garden. Children enjoyed these stories and we have been working retelling them using a flow map and during playtime as a felt board story. We have been writing opinion stories and this week we picked our favorite season and explained why it is their favorite. Your child has been bringing home all their writing stories, so please look and have them share with you. For our foundational skills, we continue to look at short vowels and reading/identifying them in words. We are also working identifying the long vowels in words.
Math
We completed Unit 6 this week and are beginning Unit 7. I am including the parent letter in this section for you to look over what we will be working on during this unit. We have been working on teen numbers and understanding that they are 10 and some more and writing addition number sentences (10+3=13).
On our calendar markers we have been using many measuring tools and playing with them to weigh, measure length, and find how much different containers hold during purposeful playtime! They love experimenting with different items around the classroom.
